| 24. Lucid . calendar
| The lucid . calendar is a simple calendar application written in PHP. It is currently set up to use the MySQL database as its back end. However, I don't think it would be very hard to port it to a different database. |

It offers a full administration area, recurring calendar entries of varying period and duration (i.e. same day every month for 6 months or once every year for 4 years), optional categories, year, month, week, and day displays, auto-hyperlinking, and the option to allow users to submit items which can then be validated before adding to the calendar. |

| If anyone is looking for a recommendation of a Linux distribution, let me whole heartedly recommend the new SuSE 8.0 release (pro or personal). It is awesome. I've been a SuSE user for a couple of years, and have never had a problem (that wasn't my own fault). But I just installed the live eval version of 8.0, to see if it would detect some fairly wacky hardware out of the box, and it did -- with an extremely user-friendly set of installation screens. Don't worry, you can also back out of the graphical screens and use the text-only ones, too. BIG props to SuSE. |
